Meiling was awarded a gift provided by Drs. Mary (Heng) Jessel and Peter Jessel in honor of the memory of Dr. Thomas Heng, Dr. Mary Jessel's late father. This award is intended to support a Neuroscience Graduate Student or Post-Doctoral Fellow in the laboratory of a Department of Neurology investigator. We are very grateful to the Jessels for this generous gift, which will support Meiling's postdoctoral work this year. Congratulations, Meiling!

We are excited to welcome Ruitao to the lab! He is a junior at UofM and plans to pursue a PhD upon graduation. Ruitao will be working with Chandni and Xiaogang to study seizure mechanisms in a mouse model of Focal Cortical Dysplasia.
Jan 13, 2025 - Visiting Scholar joins the lab
We are honored to welcome our first visiting scholar, Xiaogang Zhang, to the Mattis lab! Dr. Zhang is a physician scientist from China, where he holds a title of Associate Chief Physician and Associate Chief Physician Deputy Director in the Department of Neurology at Chongqing General Hospital, Chongqing University. He brings clinical and research expertise in epilepsy to the lab, and we are thrilled to have him join the team for a year. Welcome, Xiaogang!
