Congratulations to Limei and team for their Epilepsia publication, Medial septum parvalbumin-expressing inhibitory neurons are impaired in a mouse model of Dravet syndrome. We employed whole cell patch clamping in acute brain slices to identify significant hypoexcitability of inhibitory neurons within the medial septum in Scn1a+/- mice. This work identifies the medial septum as a pathologic region and suggests its importance for cognitive impairment in Dravet syndrome. We are excited to extend this work in vivo — stay tuned!
